In Iowa, we utilize a citizen legislature. A citizen legislature means your elected representation at the State and Federal Capitol relies on the general public to understand the impacts and effects of the legislation and rules they pass.
Because banks, like Security Savings Bank, are federally and state regulated, it is important that we remain vigilant to impending regulation and legislation that could positively or negatively impact us. Through legislative advocacy, we defend and promote banks and bank customers' interests, which means speaking out against harmful new laws and championing worthwhile causes.
Here's where we'll keep you updated about developments with pending issues and legislation.

The American Bankers Association (ABA) is a Washington, D.C.-based trade association for the U.S. banking industry, founded in 1875. They lobby for banks of all sizes and charters, including community banks, such as Security Savings Bank. ABA believes that government policies should recognize the industry's diversity and the role of banks as drivers of economic growth and job creation. Laws and regulations should be tailored to correspond to a bank's charter, business model, local markets and risk profile so that banks across America can serve their customer and communities.
